BMW replaced rigid maintenance intervals with a customised service in 1982. Sensors and specific algorithms monitor the different operating conditions of your BMW. The Condition Based Service (CBS) determines the current and future maintenance requirements of your vehicle. The system allows you to adjust the scope of maintenance to your personal needs.

Use the Control Display to view remaining mileages and times for selected maintenance requirements including any legally required due dates:

• Engine oil (due to the Sri Lanka market's environmental conditions, it is recommended to do the engine oil service every 8000 km or 1 year)
• Brake pads: front and rear individually
• Brake fluid
• Vehicle Check
• Legally required inspections according to country regulations
• Diesel particle filter

You are always informed ahead of time when your next service is due.

Have a look at the Control Display to find out which service you need, for example, engine oil, brake pads, etc. In addition, your vehicle continuously saves all maintenance requirement information during your journey in the remote control (vehicle key). Your Authorised BMW Service Centre can simply read the data from your remote control and make you an offer that includes the scope of maintenance that is best for you.

A VIN is the Vehicle Identification Number for your vehicle – also called chassis number. You will find the Chassis Number of your vehicle in the Certificate of Registration under item no. 2. On your BMW, the VIN can be found on a sticker that is placed on the lower part of the driver’s side “B” pillar. The embossed VIN can usually be found on the top of the front right hand side wheel house. Note that the location of the VIN may vary from BMW model to model; where for example, the embossed VIN can be found underneath the driver’s seat floor carpet on the BMW i3. On older BMW models, the VIN can be found on a type plate on the engine bay.
